2009 Stillwater Creek Malbec (Artist Series)

$34.00

Columbia Valley - 170 Cases

92% Malbec, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot

Most people think of Malbec as the wine of Argentina, but it originated in southwestern France.  Because of it’s rich flavor and powerful bouquet the French tend to use it primarily as a blending grape.  It can also star on its own, like our 2008 Reserve Malbec with its deep inky violet hue and complex bouquet of red and dark fruits, grapefruit, exotic spices and pepper. This Malbec is a very rich and decadent wine with a finish that goes on and on.

Columbia Valley – 55 Cases –

85% Merlot,

15% Cabernet Sauvignon

The bouquet has hints of flowers in a sea of dark cherries, spices and chocolate with a hint of espresso. The rich violet color hints at the aging abilities of the wine.  This is a perfectly balanced wine with just enough acids and tannins.

It’s as rich as a cab, yet you could serve it with more food choices than a cab, even some seafood and poultry dishes.   This wine will age for at least a decade.

Both the nose and the palate are filled with black cherry and blueberry.  In the background are hints of cracked black pepper, toasted cashew, lavender and mint.  It shows remarkable balance of acidity and tannin, then brings a finish of chocolate-covered espresso bean.
